Hours per week: 40
Times: Saturday 7am-7pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday 3pm-11pm
Responsible to: Shelter Manager
Salary: $10.34-$14.37

Summary Description: The Direct Service Advocate position is responsible for answering the 24 hour crisis line, meeting with women in the community for on-call meetings, responding to resident needs at the shelter and ensuring the safety and security of the shelter during their scheduled shifts.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
• Ensuring the coverage of the 24 hour crisis line during scheduled shifts. • Providing crisis intervention and advocacy based counseling to callers and residents. • Facilitate on-call meetings with callers seeking shelter during scheduled shifts. • Ensure safety and security of the shelter during scheduled shifts. • Facilitate group living for the safety of everyone at the shelter. • Ensure proper documentation is completed daily.
Other Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Completion of tasks on the daily sheet. • Completion of the shift duties checklist. • Attend team and case management meetings. • Participate in volunteer training. • Provide support and guidance to staff, interns and volunteers. • Report child abuse as required by mandated reporters. • Follow all agency guidelines, polices and procedures. • Participate in training activities to maintain the annual required 30 hours of WAC training. • Facilities tasks as assigned by the Shelter Manager. • Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications and Skills:
• Experience working with victims of domestic violence preferred • Completion of Womencare 30 hour domestic violence advocate volunteer training • Ability to pass a State Patrol background check • Bi-lingual skills preferred • Basic computer skills, MS Word, Outlook • Good written and oral communication skills • Ability to work under stressful conditions. • Ability to multi-task.
