About Our Shelter:
On May 22, 1979 Womencare Shelter opened it's doors. Within 24 hours, two of the three beds were filled. In 1999 we received funds to purchase land and begin construction of our own confidential shelter. In the Fall of 2000 we opened the doors of our new facility.
Our Shelter Includes:
- 2-4 bunk beds per room,
a desk and a phone in each of the five bedrooms.
- An adjoining bathroom off of each room, with the exception of the large family room that has a private bath.
- Two computers for client use, with Internet access and printing capability.
- A serenity garden for women and outdoor play equipment for the children..
- Laundry facilities, large kitchen, living room and a dining room.
- An advocate office where our 24 hour staff is accessible.
- Full ADA accessibility.
When a Family Stays at Our Shelter We Provide:
- Bedding and linens
- Hygiene kits
- Clothing vouchers
- Childrens packs
- Journals, resource kits, safety planning information
- Self care "spa kits" for bathtub/shower combo
- Personal lockers
- Commodities and basic food items along with fresh produce, and goodies
- Transportation if requested
Our 24 hour staff is there to assist you with your needs. Our shelter is more than just a place to stay, it's a place to begin anew.
